Meditations by Marcus Aurelius

This is a book I'm glad I bought because I'm probably going to come back to it a few times over my life. For those who don't know, Marcus Aurelius was a Roman emporer and wannabe philosopher, and Meditations were his private motivational notes to himself. This book is better viewed as a reminder. There's no grounbreaking new ideas or philosophical proofs in here, and you're unlikely to learn much that's new about the world or about yourself. It's basically a 160-page diary telling you that being a good person is the only important thing, and that being a good person is totally in your power. Nothing crazy enlightening. That said, I think this message is something that I need to hear relatively often, and I hope that the advice from the book helps me to lead a more fulfilling life.
